     The crossing between the city of Cananeia and the bay of Paranagua city provide the contact with the one of the best preserved regions of the Atlantic rainforest of the Brazil, formed by a great estuary and surrounded by mangrove. The region has deserted beaches, is inhabited by dolphins, otters, yellow-bellied alligators, purple-faced parrots, black lion face monkey and others animals. Its vast mangrove swamps are visited by spoonbills, herons, scarlet ibis, kingfishers, among many other birds. The Atlantic rainforest still offers river and waterfall baths to refresh. 

     The Ribeira River Highlands State Tourist Park, better known by the acronym PETAR, is a Brazilian park located in the south of the state of São Paulo, between the municipalities of Apiaí and Iporanga. It was created in 1958 with the aim of improving the public's concept of the environment, with the initiative of USP's ecological studies, which led the government to enact law no. 32 283, which would allow the area to be closed to tourism in caves, waterfalls and forests and for studies by universities and ecological research laboratories on the Atlantic Forest.Rich in diversity and natural beauty, it has one of the largest number of caves in the world and is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

 

​Expedition Itinerary:

DAY 01: The tour guide will be waiting for you in the arrival gate in Guarulhos Airport/BRAZIL.

10:00 am Departure for Iporanga/SP and in the way visit to the first cave we will visit in the Ribeira River Highlands Touristic State Park.

04:00 pm – Expected arrival in Iporanga and dinner.

DAY 02: IPORANGA (Ribeira River Highlands Touristic State Park).

08:00 am – Breakfast.

09:00 am – Let’s visit one cave in the morning, lunch and visit another cave in the afternoon.

05:00 pm – Expected return to the Inn.

DAY 03: IPORANGA/CURITIBA

08:00 am – Breakfast.

09:00 am – We leave Iporanga and go to Curitiba/PR.

01:00 pm - Expected arrival in Curitiba, lunch and city tour in the Paraná State capital.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 04: CURITIBA/MORRETES/PARANAGUÁ

07:00 am - Breakfast.

08:30 am - Train trip trough the Atlantic forest descending the Sea Range (2.500 ft) until to the coastal plain.

12:30 pm - Expected arrival in Morretes city and lunch.

02:30 pm - We leave Morretes and go to Paranaguá for a city tour.

07:30 pm - Dinner.

DAY 05: PARANAGUÁ/MEL's ISLAND

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:30 am - Start of the paddling (2,0 na. miles) to the Mel's Island.

10:30 am - Expected arrival Mel's Island and discovery its surroundings, lunch and keep discovering its surroundings.

07:30 pm - Dinner.

DAY 06: MEL's ISLAND

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:30 am - Start of the paddling (2,0 na. miles) to the Our Lady of Pleasures Fortress building in 1767 and the Mel's island Lighthouse. In the way have a lunch or snack.

19:30 pm - Dinner.

 

DAY 07: MEL's ISLAND

08:00 am - Breakfast.

This day you will enjoy the beaches and rest.

19:30 pm - Dinner.

 

DAY 08: MEL's ISLAND/SUPERAGUÍ NATIONAL PARK

08:00 am - Breakfast.

11:00 am - Start of the paddling (3,5 na. miles) to the Superaguí village.

12:30 pm - Expected arrival in Superaguí, you can have a meal or snack and discovery its surroundings.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

 

DAY 09: SUPERAGUÍ/CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK

08:00 am - Breakfast.

10:00 am - Start of the paddling (25,0 na. miles) to the Cardoso Island State Park. 

02:00 pm - Expected arrival in Ariri village for lunch or snack.

03:30 pm - Keep paddling to Cardoso Island.

05:30 pm - Expected arrival in Marujá village Cardoso Island.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 10: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK

06:00 am - Breakfast.

07:00 am - Today we will walk 8 miles to one natural pool crossing the beach of Lage, one of the most beautiful deserted beaches in Brazil

05:30 pm - Expected return in Marujá village Cardoso Island.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 11: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:00 am - Let's rest the day at the beach and know the village surroundings.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 12: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK/CANANÉIA CITY

07:00 am - Breakfast.

09:00 am - Start of the paddling (20,0 na. miles) to the Cananéia city. 

03:00 pm - Expected arrival in Cananéia and lunch.

03:30 pm - Keep paddling to Cardoso Island.

05:30 pm - Expected arrival in Marujá village Cardoso Island.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 13: CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:00 am - Cananéia walking tour.

11:00 am - Return to São Paulo city.

01:00 pm - Lunch.

06:00 pm - Expected arrival in SP.

07:00 pm - Dinner.

DAY 14: SÃO PAULO SIGHTSEEING/GRU AIRPORT

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:00 am - Sightseeing and visit to São Paulo city museum.

01:00 pm - Farewell lunch.

03:00 pm - Sightseeing and GRU airport.

06:00 pm - Expected drop in GRU airport.

 

WHAT'S INCLUDED: 40 liter dry bag, ground and boat transportation, guide, canoes or kayaks, lifeguard jacket, paddles, 13 lodging with breakfast in lodges and hotels, and all daily actives. Meals and beverage are not included except the lunch in Morretes city and the Farewell lunch in São Paulo city.

WHAT'S TO BRING: flashlight, camera, paddling clothes, dry clothes, mask and snorkel, fin, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and cap.
